Let’s get to today’s cards!
These images are so freakin adorable and there are so many to choose from. You can check out the collection by clicking HERE. Thankfully, the price point on these die cuts is super reasonable so I had no problem ordering a few! Since the die cut images were so delicate I didn’t want to take away from them and I decided to keep my cards SUPER simple. I just added some Tumbled Glass Distress ink with a blending brush to a 3 1/2″ by 3 1/2 inch piece of 120lb cardstock.
Next, I die cut the whittle images from white cardstock and Copic coloured them. You can also cut them directly from coloured cardstock if you like. But, I liked colouring them in with Copics to give the images a bit more dimension. The whittle avocado is just “ripe” for a punny card and the whittle lizard reminds me of my crafting buddy Bob (My son’s bearded dragon). So naturally, I had to colour that little guy the same colour as Bob! I then used my Art Glitter glue to adhere the images down onto the inked background. I also recommend Gina K Connect adhesive as it also gives you a bit more time to wiggle your whittle images in place before stick, whereas the Art Glitter glue tends to adhere right away.
Time for the sentiments! I didn’t have any sentiment stamps in my stash that I wanted to use. However, the Poppystamp Word Balloon dies were perfect for me to create my own! In fact, I can see these being used in several future projects. I wrote my sentiments with a black liner pen and then inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink. This helped the word balloons stand out against the background. The sentiments I wrote were “Avocado tell you…you’re great!”, “Leaping Lizards! It’s your birthday”, “I know guac is extra….but so are you!”, “I Newt was your birthday. Have a great day”.
Once I adhered everything down, my little buddy Bob had to check out my Whittle cards. He seemed happy with what I created, however, I couldn’t help but think they were missing something…..that’s when Bob gave me the cutest look with his beautiful eyes…EYES! That’s it! These little guys needed some fun google eyes. So, I found some tiny google eyes in my stash and once I adhered them down – they were perfect!
I hope you had as much fun checking these cards out as Bob and I had making them. In fact, you can check out our video here:
